Mommy, Not Mom
6w // 90 minutes // Intergenerational Dramedy
Lots of WLW media centers relationships with stark power imbalances--particularly those between underage girls and older women? And... everyone seems to be ok with this--within the world of the films (save for the usual homophobia), and within the audiences that engage with them.
The lesbians (and their allies--thanks, Ms. Lorraine) who meet biweekly at 327 Mystic to watch WLW films have noticed this phenomenon, and can't help but talk about it. They also talk about other things--like Stonewall, strong arms, and falling in love with your best friend. And they're a family, of sorts: a found family that knows how to have a good time... Maybe too good of a time, at points.
An intergenerational dramedy about what kids have access to and who has access to kids.
