Isabelle Fereshteh Sanatdar Stevens (she/they) is an Iranian & Irish-American writer, performer, and artist whose work tends to center love and loss, the creation of new worlds and realities, and bearing witness.
She and her work have been supported by Smith College, Horizon Theatre Company, Boston University, Boston Playwrights' Theatre, Fresh Ink Theatre Company, New Repertory Theatre, the O’Neill (NPC), and The Kennedy Center (KCACTF). Isabelle/Fereshteh was one of NewRep Theatre's 2023 Pipeline Artist-in-Residence, was Boston University's 2024-25 Whitney Young, Jr. Fellow for Social Justice, and was the 2024 First Place National Award Winner of the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival's "John Cauble Outstanding Short Play Award."
They just graduated from BU/BPT’s Playwriting MFA after three wonderful years studying under Nathan Alan Davis, Hansol Jung, Melinda Lopez, and Ronán Noone. They also are the Associate Artistic Director of New York Stage and Film.
